About The Sandblast Sign Company

Learn more about The Sandblast Sign Company

THE SANDBLAST SIGN COMPANY WAS ESTABLISHED IN 1997 IN SOUTH LANARKSHIRE SCOTLAND.

Inspired by a North American ‘invention’ the sandblasting process is used with stencils to ‘carve’ designs into various materials. The rubber stencil protects some areas and the areas not protected get subjected to a very high speed ‘erosion’ process. As this is a controlled ‘erosion’ process, rather than actually cutting or carving, the characteristics of the material become highlighted as part of the design. Softer areas being ‘eroded’ faster that hard areas.

Initially SSC produced timber signage, supplying golf courses and parks in the local area. Using Western Red Cedar imported from USA and Canada, the company flourished. As word got about the company was approached to carve various other materials, glass, plastic and stone. ‘We would try anything’. There were some failures along the way, but an expertise in all things sandblasted has been achieved. SSC have pushed the boundaries of what is achievable and taken a heavy industrial process and used it in a creative and artistic way.

IN 2006 THE SANDBLAST SIGN COMPANY RELOCATED TO  SUFFOLK AND PROGRESSIVELY MOVED TOWARDS STONE-MASONRY .

SSC have developed a network of stone suppliers from around the UK and further afield. Granite, Slate, Sandstone, Limestone and Whinstone can all be sourced specific to the customer’s requirement. In house stonemasons can cut, shape and finish the stone. We have the expertise to guide the client in the right direction with appropriate stone selection and skilled workmanship, to achieve the desired outcome.

WE CAN SOURCE STONES FOR FEATURE STONES, AND PAVING.

SSC is not limited to masonry work. We have undertaken many high profile jobs. Everything from sandblasting geometric patterns into new brick to create a 3D mural, to sandblasting Antarctic landscapes into toughened glass windows at part of a public art project.

We have produced trophies, commemorative bottles, a periodic table within a school pavement, cycleway markers, direction finders, entrance signs, time capsule marker stones, memorials, standing stones, balanced boulders and carved names into a whiskey barrel, to name but a few.

We are able to work from supplied designs or can create the designs for you. We use various designers from all over the world, so language and style can always be accommodated.
